Miyazaki Wagyu is characterized by its superb flesh and fine marbling. It has a faint sweetness and mellow aroma. At the National Competitive Exhibition of Wagyu( AKA Wagyu Olympic)held once every five years, all the Japanese Beef farmers and organizations bring their highest quality wagyu to the contest. Miyazaki Wagyu has won the highest prize consecutively in the last three expos.

To be qualified as Miyazaki Wagyu, the Wagyu cattle must come from a bloodline of Japanese Black stud bulls developed in Miyazaki Prefecture through a prefecture-wide effort. Moreover, the birthplace must be exclusively Miyazaki Prefecture.
In addition, only cattle that have spent the longest part of their feeding period in Miyazaki Prefecture and Graded A4 and above can be designated "MIYAZAKI-GYU"
